Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to do photo styling. It all started back in my 20s, my first real job out of college (I'd had a cool internship at the design agency, Nemo before that) was as the Creative Design Manager for Papa Murhpy's Pizza. Not only did I get a fancy title for a graphic designer, I got to attend the commercial video and photography shoots. It was during this time that I realized photo styling was something you could do professionally. And since that, I've always felt it was something I enjoyed and wanted to do more of. With my experience at Oregon Home magazine, my wish was granted. I got to be on set at beautiful and unique homes! What fun to decorate and collaborate during these shoots. Over the years, I've learned that photo styling, is not always as easy as it might look. The gathering of items, coordinating with team members and transporting things in and out is a big part of the job. But when you're on set, it makes it all worth it. Creating a beautiful scene is a delicate balance between making a space look lived in, neat, intriguing and inviting all at the same time. I like to view the space as pages waiting for us to write a story. Photo styling is all about editing, rearranging and adding to create a visual story that entices the viewer to participate. Below are a few of my projects. Do you have a photoshoot coming up that you'd like some help with? Please don't hesitate to shoot us an email!
